I agree with you, Bonnie. I have 7 outside cats, and they eat along side skunks, possums and raccoons. I have a possum who has been living in a "cat house" in my backyard for the past 3 or 4 years now. Needless to say, he is huge. There have even been small raccoons knocking on my bedroom window at night, then hanging upside down from it when I looked out. They don't seem to bother anything, and my granddaughters just love to watch them. I'm not too sure about the armadillo who I believe has hibernated under my house, but he will keep the fire ants at bay when he wakes up.

Ten acres would give you opportunity for a small preserve. National Wildlife had a great article several decades ago for a small lot, an acre lot and five acres. It was amazing what you could support with each. Right now, we have fewer animals coming in due to our two dogs...even with lots of cover plants...interestingly, many people say that cats will domore harm but we actually had greater variety when we had our two cats thanwith the two dogs. Pouring down rain here today. Guess I'm not going to get my last section of sprinkler pipe put in. The ditch I already dug to place part of it in is completely full of water (nothing like having a back yard of solid clay!). What I'd want for Xmas is 10 acres of land. I'd keep part forest, plant part with shrubs and perennials, and a veggie garden in the sun. Then, of couse I'd also want to work only part time, and have oodles of money to spend on all the plants I'd need : ) Really- I'd settle for 2 weeks off work and good weather : ) Theresa Donna wrote: > Still with the drought Pam?
