Hi again Kitty, Yes I've done that as well, the method used would depend on 
the type of paneling.  If it's the usual 4x8 sheets with a small v-type
groove sort of randomly spaced across the 4' dimension, you could use a
plaster type filler and sand the paneling then paint or paper as you desire. 
If it's 1" boards with a decorative edge put next to each other, a wood
filler or a "bondo" type of filler should be used. When you need more info 
on the thermostat, just let me know.

Thanks Rich.  I'll make a note of getting a better thermostat.  I may pick
your brain about this more when I get closer to actually doing it.
Hmmm...that thermostat'll be on the wall I guess.  I was contemplating
painting the room before the floor gets done.
Another thing about that room - because it is lower it has a Cathedral-type 
ceiling sloping down to the outside wall.  The outside wall was wood
panelled; the rest painted.  I'm thinking of finding some sort of filler
paper to cover the panelling and then wallpaper that wall. Anyone ever done 
that?

Hi Kitty, I put down an electrical product in my bathroom a few years ago
when I remodeled.  I think it is great, one of the best things I've ever
done.  The cost was a little high, since at the time it was almost
cutting-edge technology.  The cost of the product has since dropped quite
a
little.  The cost of the electricity involved is un-noticeable, but I did
get a very good thermostat (made in Sweden) that has a number of different 
programs, depending on your lifestyle.  I really think the whole thing is

Jim, I suppose you can sit this one out ;+)
I'm thinking about redoing my family room (FR) next year.  The FR is on a
slab situated between the garage and Florida Room.  The rest of the house
is
on a crawl, a few steps up from the FR.  FR has a good quality berber
carpet
that looks like crap because it is a very high traffic area.  I also have
my
5 tiered light stand in the FR and have spilled water and brown natural
liquid fertilizer on the carpet as well as hot choc when I stepped on the
cat.  I'm thinking tile.
However, being on a slab, tile would really make that room cold. A friend 
mentioned heated tile and I thought  it sounded like the tile might have
electric wiring in them.  But today there was an article in the paper
about
warm water tubing under tile for heating.  I've never seen heated tile
advertised and I'm  wondering how expensive a project this would be.

Do any of you have any heated-tile rooms?  Any thoughts to share?
