Re: No gardening?
Lonely is realizing you're the patriarch [or matriarch] of your clan.

Oh my, your husband will definitely be in my prayers today. I hate
that white knuckle driving. I'm glad to hear he's going slow, but that
will make it a real marathon as well.
Take care of yourself too.
I'm debating with myself whether I can go back to work tomorrow or
not. Definitely feeling better, but still a little headache & general
achy chilled feeling.

Judy,
I'm so sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. Now that I'm older I
really
appreciate having my MIL and father still in my life. I get very
melancholy
knowing that there may not be much time left with them.
We are experiencing ice and freezing rain since about noon. I'm out
sick
for the second day, and I consider myself lucky as I would be driving
my 33
mile commute on a sheet of ice! My husband is driving home from
Boston as I
write this. I couldn't convince him to stay over night. It will
probably be
a VERY long drive! It usually takes 6 hours. Last I heard, he was
driving
15 mph. There is more snow north of here, so it will be slow going
for him.
We have an inch of that wet compacted snow on the grassy areas, but my
walkway is coated in ice. I hate when he goes on business trips in the
winter! So far the power seems to be ok- no flickering lights.
Boy, Jesse, I feel for you! I worry about keeping all my animals and
plants
warm. Years ago we were without power for a week due to an ice
storm. At
that time I had an extensive collection of African Violets and
gesneriads.
It didn't take long without power to turn my collection into mush.
I did get outdoors last weekend to plant a few bags of alliums that I
ordered very late in the season. I never finished the fall list of
chores.
I always seem to be playing "catch up" on all fronts. :(
Stay well everyone,
