Re: Benazir Bhutto

Thanks for the balance Jim. I wouldn't vote for Hillary just because she's a woman any more than I would vote for McCain because he was a soldier or for Obama because he's got Oprah. or against Romney because he's Mormon, or against Edwards cuz he's cute, or whatever.

I am saddened by the loss of Bhutto, but I think even she saw it coming. I'm saddened by the fact, too, that our next president may not be voted in because of his talents, intellect, experience, or genuine desire to improve our country, but because Oprah says so. Thanks God Dr. Phil hasn't hitched his wagon to a candidate.

I agree with Jesse in the generalization that women may be inclined more toward a peaceful existence, but also w Jim that not all woman fit that description. More than anything though, the thing that really bugs me is that everyone who is hurting someone else for political reasons or greed, all over the world, here, there, everywhere, seems to be doing it "with God on their side".

I take no offense. Apparently, testosterone makes us behave somewhat differently. But I would point out that two of the biggest hawks in the last century were Golda Meir and Margaret Thatcher.

It's just sickening though....I can barely focus on my work today. My
mind keeps wandering back to her. No offense to any of the men on the
list - but sometimes a woman's influence can calm things down and add so
MUCH (except for Hillary - but I won't go there on the garden list), and
she was so successful in the years before....it just saddens me. She had
no hidden "personal agenda" - just peace and fairness for that of the
common people. Tonight I will light a candle in my garden for her - and
all those that feel the loss.

I agree, Jesse. But, somehow, you just knew it was fated to happen given
that political climate.

This was very sad news to me. I'm just horrified.
