Hi Jesse,
I plant garlic every year, 60 to 80 plants.  Plant them in late October 
early November, harvest them in August when the bottom 5 leaves have 
turned brown.  Try googling garlic gormet, they have a real nice little 
booklet that tells you probably more than you want to know about 
garlic.  (note): have taken purple ribbons at the county fair for the 
past 5 years with my German purple stripe.  Good Luck!!! Rich
