It's been a strange one for me, too, this year. I guess we are the
ultimate empty-nesters. I'm very happy that all my sons have
grown up and settled into happy marriages and are doing their own
thing with their own families, but they are so far away, and so many
of our other friends are no longer here for various reasons, that we
begin to feel somewhat isolated. I have made my traditional candy
for my club members and neighbors, but didn't send it to the kids
this year. Too fattening, they say. I haven't done much shopping -
mainly for the "Christmas Angel" gift program at the church where
we draw the name and wish list for a less fortunate person who has
been proposed by a social service agency. Ours was a single
mother who wanted towels - we threw in some warm gloves and
a gift certificate at a food store. For our sons and families we send
gifts in their name through Heifer International - have done for several
years now. That leaves me with much less bustle than usual. We
have put up the tree, and the cats think it's wonderful, especially the
bright red tree-skirt. Lottie, the black one, thinks she looks stunning
on it - and she's right.
Anyway, I hope all of this group are having the happiest season
possible. To all, a very Merry Christmas!

This has been a very non-traditional Christmas for me. Only bought a few
presents, had most of this week off, and don't even have a Xmas tree up.
Not exactly sure why this happened, but it did. It really doesn't seem like
the holiday to me at all.... Even the weather, it's raining ice balls for
the
last 12 hours.

So before I run off to prepare Xmas eve dinner, I want to wish you all a
very
Merry Christmas!
