Let me know how to keep wisteria under control! I deliberately got a W. macrocarpa, supposed to be less aggressive than the asian species. If that is so, I'd hate to cope with them.

Hi everyone-I wanted to wish all a Happy New Year. I haven't been much of aparticipant lately, who knew life at 40 would get so busy?I try to keep up with what's going on (Happy late birthday, Zem). Anyway-I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas. I flew to Illinois to spend it with my sister's family and my Dad and his wife. We had a great time. Sis and family have TWO ten week old Great Dane puppies, Daisy and Duke, in addition to their Yorkie, Peppy, and Wheaton terrier, Peaches. SO, their house was loud and eventful and QUITE entertaining. I never knew Danes were so vocal. They did a lot of talking and yodeling and other noises. I can only begin to imagine what their house will be like in 3 months when they are 3 times the size they are now. At 10 weeks they're as tall as my Vidalia who is now afull grown, if small, boxer.I got to have a white Christmas and then come right back home. Or almost right back home. I was stuck in O'Hare for 13 hours on Saturday. That was nofun at all. Finally I told them just to get me south and I flew intoJacksonville, FL as all the flights to Savannah were either cancelled or booked. My best friend (God Bless Her) came and got me. It's about a 3 hour drive to JAX from Beaufort so we got back home about 3:00 am. I could have kissed the ground. Next time I'm going through Atlanta. MUCH easier. LOL!I have a gorgeous dark purple Dendrobium orchid on my kitchen counter. The spikes must be 2 feet long and full of blooms. That was wonderful to come home to. All the other plants are in the greenhouse. We're having our first big freeze this weekend and after that I can get in the garden and startcleaning out. I've borrowed a friend's Sawzall to help me with somepruning. I've still got mini trees and wisteria to get under control in this yard. I still say Wisteria is Satan's Vine. I think we should move to renameit. So, I have lots to do in the next 2 weeks as I have surgery on January 25th. Total hysterectomy. I cannot wait! I scheduled it for that date so by March I'll be back on my feet. I've been doing more exercise so I'll have somestamina built up. My Doc assures me that if all goes well I'll recover quickly.Anyway-I think about y'all a lot, even if I don't read every post. I hope weall have a great 2010! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
