Re: shuttle OT


in this part of the world, one of the community rituals is to watch the shuttles take off. even here on the west coast, we can see the vapor trails from the launches at kennedy.

when challenger took off, most of my neighbors were watching. it brought a pall to the village that lasted a long time.

i would expect a similar reaction in texas, especially after i heard an interviewee say "it's so terrible that it happened right here in our town."
