Jesse,
You are my kind of lady! I feel at my happiest when I'm dirty, sweaty, and dirt under my fingernails. When the weather is fit, we take every chance we can to go camping and fishing. I recently met a wife of a guy I work with (on a company canoeing trip down the river) who has a hobby of "charting people." Anyway, about halfway thru the day, she started telling me what she saw in me and was right on the money!!!!!
Anyway, she gave me a book to read by Anne LaBastille called,
Woodswoman, Living Alone in The Adirondack Wilderness. Anne is a lady who lives alone in the Adirondack Mts. with her two german shepherds.
It's much "deeper" than that but I can't elaborate as I haven't started it yet. The back of the book does mention that she "captures the struggle to balance her need for companionship and love with her desire for independence and solitude." I've been sitting on this book for over a month and for some reason, your email struck a spark in me to pick it up and finally start reading. Thanks!!
Anyway, Happy Belated Birthday,
Danielle
Yep...it's true. I'm a hippy chick...but I just don't look like it. Any of you Aquarius folks out there know what I mean. NEVER judge a book by it's cover. That's a big mistake. I work in a law firm...and I can be "dressed up" and look presentable...but truly...I'm at my happiest when I'm grungy, dirty and in my garden. That's a fact. I've lived so many different places...that I feel like I can fit in ANYWHERE...with ANYBODY...but if I had my druthers....I'd be living in some commune with other crunchy folks like me...raising each other's kids and growing our own food...and weaving blankets...you get the picture. Being part Indian...maybe that's it. I just don't know. But I DO know that I love this group. This group is exactly what I picture a little village or tribe being like...all different...but all caring for each other in our own little way. (My husband calls me a flower child...you know that T.V. show "Dharma and Greg"...well, I'm Dharma...he's Greg).

Oh she's a hippie-chick alright, make no mistake. Trapped in the body
and face of a beauty queen, but a hippie-chick nevertheless. A groovy,
granola-crunchy, free spirited kind of gal....
