Yes, that's exactly what they look like. I had to identify them the
first time Sugar ate one and I had to call Austin (Parks & Wildlife)
because none of the vets around here knew if they were poisonous.

They aren't thank God, but salamanders are. Don't have those. Never seen
the anoles, but w/ all the birds in my yard during the day (hundreds of
them during the winter) if I did have any, the birds would probably eat
them. So the geckos come out about the time the birds are going to roost
and take over the bug eating chores. Never seen one eat anything bigger
than a very small moth.
