Pictures

I just sent Donna two pictures. One is the jewel orchid now that some of the buds are open [and, yes, Cathy, it is ludisia. I thought not, but then I discovered a label].

The other is a Hoya that I bought at the Japanese Festival a Morikami Gardens yesterday. Like an idiot, I didn't ask the woman I bought it from for a species name. She only had two of these and the other was sold before I got there. So I bought this one, left it in her care while we wandered around, looked at all the bonsai, listened to a couple of Taiko drum concerts, and ate soba noodle concoctions. Anyway, when I went back to get the plant, I forgot to ask the woman for a complete ident.

It does not look like any of the three or four different ones at Selby Gardens [as I remember; will check that out for sure next weekend]. It has a small tag that says "HP", which I take to mean Hoya p-something.

The picture shows both flower buds and open flowers. The leaves are about 3" long by 2" wide. The vine is 1/2" thick [at least] and has those gripping little tendrils that adhere to unpainted and untreated wood.
