Named after a tomato - she'll be a gardener for sure!

? Not my foot or meds, Zem. That was Bonnie.
Daughter is the one with problems here. Gall bladder surgery 4 1/2
weeks
after giving birth. Home again now, pale & pasty, but much less pain.
Can't
lift much yet, so grandma Judy is doing private nurse duty instead of
gainful employment this week.
Baby coos are more valuable, I think. This little sweetheart is 12
pounds
plus at 5 weeks old.

Judy, sounds like you've recovered somewhat from the meds. Hope you
foot
recovers quickly, too.

Maybe not, it's from the nursery rhyme, "Lavender's Blue."
"Lavender's blue, dilly dilly.
Lavender's green.
When I am King, dilly dilly,
you shall be Queen."
My childhood book of nursery rhymes had colored reproductions of
Rackham's
illustrations. That one had a little boy & girl in a garden. He was
handing
her a posey of lavender. Until I saw it I thought lavender was just
the
way
soap smelled. Didn't know it was a plant.
Well, there's another early memory I didn't know I had. Thanks for
the
jog,
Pam.

One tried and true, 2 new ones. Provence I've grown before, and
the
Silver Edge and Dilly Dilly sound great. Silly name on that last
one
but
these will be great in containers on the porch being on 12" high.
We
usually only get 30 or 35" of rain a YEAR, so 22" in one month is
unheard of and will likely never happen again in my lifetime. It's
no
wonder those poor babies drowned. And of course, the Goodwin Creek
Grays
survived the flood but they are only marginally hardy so as soon
as
we
got that low teens cold snap, they bit the dust!! I ordered 8
plants
(quart size) so I won't have to wait forEVER for them to get big.

Thanks for the morning chuckle Pam.... seems funny
that YOU would loose plants due to too much water:)
Hope the new ones are better than the old ones
where... Did you try new varieties?

Well I just placed my first order w/ Lazy SS. Can't
wait to see my new
lavenders. That 22" of rain last June drowned most
of mine, even the
ones in pots.
