I have Zephirine Drouhin planted with Confederate jasmine. It is a low maintenance rose and not susceptible to black spot. Unfortunately, Bambi likes it, too, so it most likely will never reach its full potential.

Tricia, In my rather old notes I have noted that Roger Swain recommended
these climbing roses:'New Dawn', 'Country Cottage', 'Polka'. Another note says
'Zephirine Drouhin' is a good climber with few if any thorns. Don't have personal
experience with these but for what it's worth...Kathy
