YIPES! Hope Ms Fatma is feeling better... pneumonia is
nothing to play around. How is she doing today after
the road trip...
And it also sounds like a Happy Birthday greeting to
her is also in order... so "Happy Birthday Ms Fatma!"
Guess we already know what the gardening fairy brought
her..... :)

Ms Fatma has had pneumonia all this week and
declared today that she had cabin fever and needed a ride in the country.
Well, ain't no country around here. So after a
lengthy discussion, we settled on a visit to TropiFlora, the world-class
bromeliad, orchid, aroid, cactus, succulent, et cetera nursery just
north of Sarasota.
It was in shambles. We found a few things [ducking
under yellow tape and walking the back roads], but when we went to
check out, I casually said: "Looks like a war zone out there." Guy running
the register said: "We're still trying to recover from Frances. We had
18 hours of 70 mile per hour winds." "We live," I told him, "less than
40 miles south of here and we had no destruction from Frances
whatever." I don't think he believed me. We bought a bonsai ficus and a "fire
stick" red pencil plant.
On the way home, and quite by accident, we
discovered a new nursery and, of course, had to stop and shop. Bought only
three small plants--an Algerian ivy for a hanging basket outside
our back door, a variegated English ivy that we have never seen
before [fantastic pattern], and a variegated cactus. All 3 to 6 inch
size. But we also bought a nice Japanese pot and saucer for the bonsai
ficus and a Mexican terra cotta sun that has a metal collar with
sun's rays of triangular-shaped metal wire.
The Mexican terra cotta sun is Ms Fatma's birthday
present. I'll post a picture after I figure out how to hang it <G>
