Ah, Hibiscus mutablis, or what I would call Confederate Rose. Love it!

Daryl you're wonderful. Crinums are one of my favorites and I would love some! I am leaving almost all of my plants in the basement with my brother-in-law (except my orchids of course)
I don't know what a Cotton Rose is. But hey, I love to try new things. I have ONE Angel's Trumpet in the basement that I grew from seed and will be taking back with me. It's a red one. I've never even seen a red one in the nurseries down south. I bought the seeds hoping to get good results and only one survived, so it's going back too. But I love them, so more would not be a bad thing, ;-)
Thanks everyone for their generosity and well wishes. I'm leaving two weeks from today.
My new place will be mostly high shade and sand. Lots of big trees and a few sunny spots. The soil downtown is sand sand sand. So, dry shade will be the majority, except right up next to the side of the house.

Andrea,
I know I could never live up north again, and wondered how you were faring.
I love the south and especially the warm winter sun. I'm glad I don't have
the alligators though.
I hope you can find a wonderful new yard to garden in. Let me know if you
need plants. I'm a hot zone 7, so there should be something that will do for
you. Crinum maybe? Cotton Rose? Angel's Trumpet? I can get some started as
soon as they pop up in the spring.

Just wanted to let you all know, I accepted my old job back in South
Carolina
this morning.
I start work on March 6.
I had hoped that I would love it here in Illinois, but it's just not
happening. I can't take the winter, and everyone says this has been a mild
one. So, I'm headed back to Beaufort, pretentious though it is.
I miss the water, the live oaks, the camellias and azaleas, the
evergreens,
and even the alligators. I need sun and light and warm days and nights.
I'll be in a new house so I get to start a whole new garden.
