Thanks Ceres, it could be a lot of things, I guess. They saw this combination in a magazine somewhere and wrote down the plants in it, which included Lotus nelumbo, as if nelumbo were a species of Lotus. I have since found that Nelumbo is a genus of lotus type flowers - as I understand it. RHS lists only 2 species. I'll continue looking around as so far the only website selling Nelumbo wanted $45 a piece for them and we are not paying that if they are just throwing them out at the end of the season.
