I think this will be a learning experience for them. The Lotus (Nelumbo)
definitely won't grow with those unless it is maintained in a separate
container within a larger one with those growing around it. These plants require
totally different growing conditions. That's the negative thing about getting
things out of magazines......they are often put together for that one photo
shoot without much thought. I see that a lot, sun and shade plants put
together, or plants that love water with plants that need dry conditions.....and
then the folks wonder why it doesn't work......especially since it did in the
magazine!!! Geeze.
