I've done both. But usually I do leaf cuttings; if I notch the leaf ribs in a few places and keep the wounds in contact with the vermiculite [I use bobby pins], I'll get a bunch of plants rather than one.On Feb 2, 2007, at 6:27 PM, Andrea Hodges wrote:Just curious Jim, do you only do leaf cuttings on your Begonias? I've always taken stem cuttings and just stuck them in some soil. I've had about 100% success that way.A----- Original Message ----- From: "james singer" <islandjim1@verizon.net>To: <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Friday, February 02, 2007 11:55 AM Subject: Re: [CHAT] BegoniaMy guess is you propagate it like other begonias--whole or partial leaf cuttings. Never tried it with carolinifolia, but it worked with all other begonias that I've tried. On Feb 1, 2007, at 5:22 PM, Cersgarden@aol.com wrote:In a message dated 2/1/07 9:20:15 AM, islandjim1@verizon.net writes:Once it warms up, Ceres, I'll get one of those flat, rigid boxes from the PO and send leaves of carolinifolia, poponeii, and one or two others to you.Jim, I would love that but I do have carolinifolia and love the foliage. How do you propagate?
