Does that help enough that you can kneel down on that knee now? I have gotten where I can't kneel at all. Both knees are terrible. One was skiing and the other was torn up kneeling while digging out monkey grass. I didn't think I could tear up a knee doing that. But I did. I am glad that they have the ability to replace parts..... Tricia----- Original Message ----- From: "BONNIE_HOLMES" <bonnie_holmes@comcast.net>

I agree. Don't wait too long. Find a surgeon that is not cut happy and have him/her tell you the options. My surgeon thinks I can get along for a few more years (I'm 66) before needing replacement. He says that parts and techniques get better every year. So, right now, I take a shot for the place on my right knee where bone hits bone. It's the exact spot where my knee hits the ground. Just worn out. My mom went thru 2 years of trying everything. Unfortunately, she waited too long for any of it to be effective. Bone on bone just doesn't work when the parts are worn out, irrated, etc. She is 78 and just had all 4 joints replaced (hips and knees) in a 12 month period. I DON'T suggest doing that. Start earlier than she did and space them out more. Her system took a heck of a tole with all those major surgeries so close together. But she can walk now, is pain free in those areas. Unfortunately, the last knee has become infected. Currently on 6 wks of shots daily directly in the vein...then retest and praying it is gone. Have been very pleased with the result of knee replacement done at the end of Oct. and would highly recommend it. My doc encouraged me to go ahead and do it while I was still " young enough to handle it". I am planning on having the other one done this year. Kathy In a message dated 1/30/2010 8:15:40 A.M. The doors of the car were iced shut, but once they were open we drove the two hours home without incident. Missed my hibiscus bloom, but came home to flowers on 5 orchids! Has anyone tried that glucosamine-chondroitin stuff for arthritis? DH's right knee is really bothering him. It didn't respond to steroid injection, and the synvisc (?sp) injection isn't providing much relief either. He would like to postpone the inevitable knee replacement as long as possible.
