Kitty: Well, then the IRS would be forced to accomodate longer hyphenated names, of course! LOL--what a picture you present!

Melody,
Yes, but......
Supposing your son was named Jeremy Roger Hobert-Mellecker and he
married my daughter, Diedre Marie Morrissy-O'Shaunessy. And their child
was then named Morgan Lindsay Morrissy-O'Shaunessy-Hobert-Mellecker and
he/she married.......
Well, you get the idea.

married and didn't feel comfortable giving up my name but also wanted to
honor my husband's family name. My children have just their dad's last
name but are always asking me why that is...I don't really have a good
answer for them. One couple I know did something I didn't even know was
possible, but which is apparently legal as well...Her last name was
Johnson, his was O'Mara...now they are both Johnson-O'Mara...Just as it
is legal for a woman to change her name at the time of marriage, it is
for a man as well. Their son carries both last names too. If I had known
before I got married that this was possible, this is probably what my
husband and I would have done...seems more fitting for a true union,
don't you think?

I kept my name (it is after all, my name), much to the chagrin of the
clerk
who did the license.

So another qstn for the ladies: If you are or were married, how did you
(if you did) change your name?
I went from Kathleen Marie Glasch to Kathleen Glasch Strope.
(At the time my birth name Kitty had early on been changed to Kathleen
and
then later changed back to Kitty)
I know many women who would have gone to Kathleen Marie Strope,
retaining
less of their former self.
