millet

Snowing heavily today so I need to think GREEN. I am considering starting 
ornamental millet pennisetum glaucum 'Purple Majesty' to use as a centerpiece 
for large container plantings. Anyone have any experience with this 
plant?..and how about as a cut flower? Will it tolerate light shade? Another 
possibility is ornamental okra. Will the pod work as a cut stem or will it 
need to be dried and mounted on wire to be used in an arrangement? thanks.
