Re: Lonicera fragrantissima

It's a bush (shrub).

I should ask if this is a vine or shrub Lonicera? If it's a vine I'll pass. They get way too happy here & invasive.

Hey Kitty, I'm with you on this one. If someone has just an errant/extra/out of place one, hint hint. Rich where it's supposed to get above freezing tomorrow. Hoo-Ha

I assumed it wouldn't be hardy here, but I looked Lonicera fragrantissima up at MOBOT and it is Zones 4-8. However, they say it blooms March-April in St Louis.
Hmmm...wonder who sells this one. I'd love to get my hands on it.

I keep forgetting to tell you all that I recently noticed my winter
honeysuckle (Lonicera fragrantissima) is blooming. I never even remember I have it until it blooms. What a fragrant reminder that spring will come again! I do love this old fashioned shrub. I got mine from suckers at an abandoned homestead nearby. It's got to be one of the easiest plants to grow since it requires absolutely no care. I also checked out the Hellebores, and they have doubled in size with lots of new growth. I'm expecting blooms on
them in the next few weeks.
