I know what you mean about the privet! It's coming up everywhere. Seems like it used to be only locust trees and sumac that come up all over the yard. There must be some awesome root system going on under ground!

Zem, I was thinking the same thing. We were up to 69 yesterday and aresupposed to be the same today. Everything has buds. This year seems to befollowing the past...very warm early spring. The privet is takingadvantage and spreading everywhere...it is still green and I have pulled upat least five seedlings in the past few weeks.[Original Message] From: Zemuly Sanders <zemuly@comcast.net> To: <gardenchat@hort.net> Date: 1/8/2008 11:46:03 AM Subject: Re: [CHAT] weather It was in the upper 70s yesterday and today it's in the lower 70s. Not surprisingly, we are under a tornado watch until 4:00 this afternoon. I noaticed today that the flowering quince is blooming, which it normallydoesthis time of the year. I've also got Vinca major blooming, which is not normal. My poor plants are going to be as confused as they were lastyear Ifear. I'm just hoping we don't have another killing freeze in mid-April! zem zone 7 West TN----- Original Message ----- From: "Donna" <gossiper@sbcglobal.net>To: "gardenchat list" <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Monday, January 07, 2008 6:27 PM Subject: [CHAT] weather > well now.... figured I should add to the discussion since here it alsois> unusal weather mode. > > I live 40 miles south of Chicago, so it is zone 5, this is January...it> supposed to be cold and icy and all that stuff. > > Well today it was 71 according to my car.
