Well I am glad to hear you got the straw/hay. I know they use it around hereto trap anything so it will not be released into the waterways during all kindsa construction...or so I have been told. I thought it was kinda of a large marker for the big earth moving equipment, but what do I know...Don't be like my mother and wait too long for the knee replacement. If you need it, well.... but you are right, knee replacement has a longer recovery period till you are able to do everything easily. If possible, go directlyfrom the hospital to a rehab center. They know how to help you in thebeginning as well as all the PT you get there will make the process so much easier and quicker. With my mother, it made it much easier on me as well. I visit her daily, but don't have to argue with her about doing this or that.Donna --- On Tue, 1/6/09, Cornergar@aol.com <Cornergar@aol.com> wrote: From: Cornergar@aol.com <Cornergar@aol.com> Subject: Re: [CHAT] Happy Birthday Kathy To: gardenchat@hort.net Date: Tuesday, January 6, 2009, 12:08 PM Donna, Thanks so much for the b'day wishes. Don't know how you alwaysremember such things when you have so much on your plate. How do you work fulltime and also look after your mother full time?? And there's always the house, garden, etc. to do. You must have been glad to see the hard freeze that meant you could quit worrying about the gardens for awhile. I have to share with youthe most exciting Xmas present. You may know that a major gas pipeline is being routed thru IL. In the construction of the ditches they are using quantities of wheat straw to control erosion I assume. When they are done with it they have to remove it and have been delivering it to our property. I now haveenough straw to cover a vast area and what I can't use will decompose intowonderful stuff. Sure beats paying $4-5 a bale and lifting it into and outof my truck. Just gave myself a sort of b'day present and rescheduled knee replacementsurgery from Feb to Sept. Now I can worry about it for a much longer time! Iwas afraid I might not be able to do my landscaping work by April if I wentahead with the Feb date. And I still have a lot of inventory to sell in the spring. Can't really afford to not work this spring as retirement money isworthhalf what it was. Guess I should be grateful there is still some left. KathyIn a message dated 1/6/2009 5:44:59 A.M.
