Title: that time of year
Javelina –wow! Looked them up; these guys aren’t small and don’t look like jumpers so, assuming your garden is fenced, it’s time to check the lower perimeter. As to your citrus, sounds like you picked a “lemon” last time. Some things are worth trying a second time, even a third. From: owner-gardenchat@hort.net [mailto:owner-gardenchat@hort.net] On Behalf Of Cyndi Johnson Well, the little Meyer lemon tree I bought last spring didn't make it, so I'm debating about trying again. I do have one citrus that is managing to hang in there but doesn't fruit much, and my neighbors have citrus, so I don't know if I picked a bad location or my watering plan is wrong. I do love Meyer lemons. I'll do the usual veggies and I'm looking at adding a small area to my backyard with some flowering shrubs and a couple cacti. The only thing is the dog...I'm worried she or any future dog might dig up, eat, or get stuck by something. Need to think about that. Desert bird of paradise (Caesalpinia pulcherrima) does really well here and is spectacular in heat, golden barrel cactus are always good-looking, and I would really like one (or three) Argentine giant cactus. Oh and I need to work a little on the front. Javelina got into the yard again and this time dug up and ate my hesperaloe (red yucca). So I guess I'll put something else there. Although javelina can eat prickly pear, spines and all, so really anything is a gamble. Have to find out where they're getting in. Cyndi in AZ On 1/22/2022 4:17 PM, Kitty Morrissy wrote:
