Well, I did all my deadheading in all areas of the garden with a heavy
spritzing of eau de vanilla sprayed on every part of me I could reach. It's
not a sure-fire cure, but I do believe it helped considerably. I still had
to deal with some of the more persistent ones, but I noticed others sort of
hovered around me or only lightly set foot on me and then left.
Auralie, thanks. I'm gonna pick up a bigger bottle of vanilla next time I'm
at the store. This works about as well as store bought insect repellents
but is cheaper and smells much nicer. I've never tried the other recipes
like pennyroyal and other herbs because I don't have them. Vanilla is
always in my cupboard, so it's easy to make. Nothing stops them completely,
but this is a pretty darned good solution.
