DF: This is more common than you think...the biggest side effect of
NSAIDS, like Ibuprofen (Motrin/Advil), Naprosyn, Vioxx, etc. is
irritation of the mucosal lining of the gut which can cause bleeding
ulcers which in turn in serious cases can cause rectal bleeding. Also
the risk of silent perforating ulcers which are a big emergency. And yet
doctors prescribe these like they are candy, as well as the over the
counter market for these is amazing but people don't think too much
before consuming vast quantities of them...
