We have a chance of rain, too. I have tried to increase that chance by watering for hours everyday, but so far it has done no good. I'm hoping the t'storms in Oklahoma can make it all the way to West TN.

A bit dry here too, but not terrible. I did my part; I washed my car
yesterday. It's been almost a year since I last washed it. Even took all
the canvas off and scrubbed it. Touched up stone nicks. Vaccuumed. Good
grief! Straw - mulch - soil - paperclips - gloves-hats-snow scrapers -
packing peanuts, etc. What a slob! So I figured it would rain today.
Yesterday's paper had predicted 40% chance. Today's papaer says 20%. You'd
think after I went to the supreme effort of washing the car that we'd get a
torrential thunderstorm.
Oh, well, I have to consider the Wing Ding; rain wouldn't appeal to them.
The Gold Wingers are back in town for their annual Wing Ding festival. They
were here in 2002 and they voted to come back here again this year.
Apparently they like the ice cream (big Edy's plant here, several Zestos and
DQs). My niece, who works for Visit Fort Wayne, is working on the WD
convention and has to work all day today - her birthday.

Beautiful weather here yesterday and today - couldn't ask for a prettier 4th - overnight temperatures in the 50s and highs in the 70s - lots of sunshine. That sounds like an ideal holiday weekend but I would really be happier if it rained. We're terribly dry. There was a brief but violent rainstorm one day last week - lasted about fifteen minutes. Every little bit helps, but it was not enough. Other parts of the county had much more - parkways were flooded, etc. but not here. We are just in a dry pocket for some reason. Sometimes I will be talking on the phone to a friend only a few miles away who will tell me about heavy rains, and we will have nothing. Anyway, here's wishing all of you a lovely holiday and good gardening.
