Thank you all for your kind thoughts. I, too, am certain that this was for the best for him. And yes- being around a couple of crazy kids is very much what I need now- I am looking forward to being with my neices in Texas for a couple of weeks!

On a more cheerful note- I did manage to yank on an old pair of jeans and go over to a friends house to go blackberry picking an hour or so ago. Was nice to be outside with the California quail, great blue heron, and the only "noise" coming from the mocking birds scolding us for stealing their food. And the berries were great.

Ok- final update. The hospital called this AM- early. My father died overnight. Sad, but also a relief for him. I'll be in and out the next 2 days making arrangements. Then off to Texas to take care of my neices (already had been planned). Thanks all for your support.

He's about the same it seems. They are working with
him, so we'll see. Hopefully they are going to remove
the NGtube and place a PEG. That should at least make
him more comfortable. I did manage to get a million
more papers signed, got everything done for financial
and medical trustee (at least for local places),
forwarded his mail, made arrangements for rent payment
from his renter, etc. So- lots accomplished. Kind of
depressing though not seeing really any change since
Tuesday. Not that I should have expected it, but was
hoping.

I'm just got back home again and went immediately for
a walk. Good to be outside and moving.
