Spraying in the summer

I've a question on spraying things like insecticides or summer oil when it's
hot. Many labels tell you not to do this when the temperatures get too high,
usually they say 90F. But do they mean right at the moment you are spraying,
or for some time (hours? weeks?) after you spray? Is it dependent on what
you're putting on the plant?
