Re: OH NO!!!!

Oh, Sue, that's a rough start in life. But it sounds like you are the type of person who won't let anything stop you from doing what you want to do - and yet you are also sensible enough to stop when the warning signs appear. As others have said, new treatments emerge each year. When you do need a repair, hopefully the right choice will be available for you.

I've was literally born with bad knees! When I started walking, my parents
took me to the doctor to find out why I was frequently screaming in pain and
why my right leg would lock up and refuse to bend. This was 1972 so there
were no high tech MRI's or anything. They eventually found out I had been
born with no cartlidge in my right knee. The pain and locking came from bone
grinding on bone. OUCH! I had surgery, spent my 3rd summer in a cast from
ankle to waist, and was in PT til I was nearly 5, as my leg stopped growing
while I was in the cast and ended up smaller and 2 inches shorter than the
other. Things finally evened themselves out but my knee has been arthritic
ever since. Now the left knee is going-I've been told I have a degenerative
condition and the cartlidge in it is slowing wearing away. It makes lovely
grinding noises but so far no pain *knock on wood* I may be only 36 but I
think my knees are more like 106! LOL!

here.

Ow. Well, I do understand. Glad to hear they all came through unscathed.
Take care of that knee. We've had to many horror stories about knees
lately.
