Re: grapeleaf anemone

I cutdown a Euonymous alatus (burning bush) last week, plan to pull the stump eventually. Today I noticed many seedling around it. I potted them up, 16 pots. Couldn't you salvage some of the HK Orchid tree seedlings b4 round up, or aren't they worth it?

Don't you love it? I went out to pick figs this AM and discovered my Hong Kong orchid tree has provided a carpet of seedlings under the main fig tree--so it's time to break out the RoundUp early some morning soon.

Well, I know I said I've been able to do more, but the Grapeleaf Anemone (Anemone tomentosa - no longer using the 'Robustissima' or var. robustissima name) is a tough adversary. I'm taking a short break from digging out 2/3 of the stand. This year it took over the path to the spigot on its right and half the bed to its left. Previously it had grown under the rocks that had been buried 4 inches down to keep it from escaping to the lawn and came out the other side. This year I'm forced to take radical action. But it means digging out the rocks to get at the roots and trying to get all the stolons, rhizomes, whatever they're called. Hot work. Came in for water and sunscreen.
