We have a new county agent, whom I have not met, who looks like he is 15 years old. The one who retired didn't know anything except soybean and cotton production. I've tried to tell the idiots about UT's Urban Forestry program, but so far it's fallen on deaf ears.

And, in our area, the County Ag Agent have had training in urban forestry
which covers all these issues. They could get the training and information
for FREE. In the little town of Friendsville are many very old
Maples...just beautiful. Unfortunately, they have recently been
topped...now you can see the places where water and insects collect and the
leaves are beginning to fade. In a couple of years, they will all be gone.
No reason for it...just ignorance.

I totally agree with you, Bonnie.  I will never understand why our county
and our electric company don't use the services of the state arborist to
learn about pruning trees along the rights of way.  Last spring the

electric

company butchered a sugar maple that wasn't even near the wires, and the
county regularly destroys every living thing along its roadways.  It just
looks like they intentionally hire the stupidest people they can find,

and
around here there are lots of them.
