Are you referring to the mineral itself or to talcum powder? Talc is the primary ingredient in talcum powder, but I'm not sure what else is in it, and whether you'd find any of the other ingredients objectionable.
"A coarse grayish-green talc has been called soapstone or steatite and has been used for stoves, sinks, electrical switchboards, etc. Talc finds use as a cosmetic (talcum powder), as a lubricant, and as a filler in paper manufacture. Talc is used in baby powder, ...Most tailor's chalk is talc, as is the chalk often used for welding or metalworking."
These uses might help you find it.

Does anyone have any suggestions about where I could find pure, fragrance- free talc? I've tried every store here in town (including the health store, which curtly informed me that they don't carry ANY talc products of any kind) to no avail. I need to create a slurry out of talc, acetone, and IBA rooting hormone and then evaporate the whole mix in order to create higher concentrate versions of powdered hormones like RootTone. Thanks in advance! Chris --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE GARDENCHAT
