Pam,
In the end, after nearly 6 years of drought, I had to give up watering. There was just too much to do to keep it up.
We got some blessed rain the winter after, and I was amazed at what came back.
I lost a Blueberry and a Pine, but most everything else came back. Stunted at first, but they recovered last year. This year we're back into a drought pattern, so I don't know the end result.
I can send you some photos of plants in absolute agony, that revived, if it will cheer you up.
d

I do like the heat, it's my garden that's getting tired of it. And things dying is hacking me off. Losing peppers, basil, a couple dayliles, and other things too annoying to mention. I'm not sure my doublefile viburnum is going to make it either. Sick of it. In another week, it'll be 18 months of drought.
