Re: African iris

Been awhile since I've seen it flower, but I think it's on a one day cycle. D. vegeta is listed in the Florida "Plant Finder," so it could be what I've got [not D. iridiodes]. D. grandiflorum is not listed in the PF--that doesn't mean it's not available here, just that it's not generally in the trade. D. bicolor is listed, but it's yellow. I have not seen a picture of D. vegeta, but PF says it's white. Dave's Garden database lists D. vegeta as a synonym for D. iridiodes.

The Dietes you sent me a couple of years ago is starting to flower.
Had a flush of 9 flowers several weeks ago (on 4 spikes), followed by
another flush of 8 last week. It's very handsome.
I'm not sure it's D. iridioides, or vegeta, or grandiflorum. I have
a good photo of D. g. I can believe, plus a maybe-believable pic of
D. iridioides but none of D. vegeta. I can't see the difference between
the first two; the flowers of D. v. are reputed to last only a day which
matches ours. How long do yours last ?
