Me, too. Noise is not my thing.
But maybe a better way to celebrate Independence Day would be to do something independent instead just following the rest of the sheep.

What the heck is so special about making noise? I've never liked loud noises. And it makes my cat a nervous wreck. I just don't "get it" - sorry. A better way to celebrate Independence Day would be to do something civic minded. Saturday I'll go down and help the gal w/ the festivities at the park, same gal who runs the feed store, so she's got her hands full and 
not too many volunteers.

Doubt the police could arrest just about the entire town.....It isn't like there is only one or two houses having parties and doing this. Block parties are very popular here. They drive around, but for the >

I don't take the chance on folks behaving themselves around here. It 
is
the one day a year I water everything, including the grass and roof. (Yes, I hose down the roof right before sunset and before going to >>

Every year someone looses their home to a bottle rocket landing on

roof it seems.)
Although it usually isn't the immediate neighbors that are lighting stuff off, they seem to fly over to my yard from the next block. July 5th is always clean up the mess day. sigh. And they are not legal 
here

either. I am hoping who ever it is has moved!

going off all over the valley. Huge fireworks too, like in the
city-sponsored displays, not just little ones. I have no idea where

come from - Mexico I guess, or other states where they're legal.

How are our friends
in northern California? It is incredibly smoky/hazy
here. While we are
hundreds of miles from all the fires burning up north
we seem to be getting
all the smoke. This morning the sun was just a
bright red ball on the horizon
and visibility now is pretty low. My eyes
are definitely bothering me.
Had a
great weekend in the local mountains, although our horses think 
they had to
work entirely too hard. Came home to some giant zucchini and
- hallelujah -
green beans ready to pick! Don't know if I'll manage to
can anything this
year, I may not get enough, but right now there are
more than plenty for fresh
eating.
