Re: MOLE PROBLEM

Has she considered asking her local University extension master gardeners for their thoughts on the situation? I make house calls here in Quincy all the time.

that's what she thinks. but these are pine trees, which I don't have so I'm just going on what she is telling me. I don't know anything about pine
trees, since they are located mostly further east of here in what is
logically called the Piney Woods. We're Blackland Prairie here.

Is she sure that it is the moles that are killing the trees? It could be something else... with the moles, because their tunnels are visible, getting

They have tunneled under her pine trees and apparently disrupted the root
system enough that it is killing the trees.

Does she have a bad mole problem? I usually ignore them, for several reasons: 1. The little carnivores are there for a reason. (She probably
has
grubs in her lawn and they are eating them.) 2. If she eliminates them, nature abhors a vacuum, and more will move in - especially if there is
food.
And 3. Aside from those killing devices installed in active runs, getting
them is not easy. People who use other methods and say they worked,
usually
had their moles move on voluntarily when food got scarce.

Hi all. I don't have moles, but a friend at work does. Anyone know a

good,
preferably organic way to get rid of them? TIA for all help &
suggestions!
