Re: Nice article, Gene

Well,
I knew there had to be a festival someplace...:-)) I see where Barry Yinger of Asiatica is getting into them pretty heavily. Have also seen them turn up at the big boxes and a few of the local greenhouses. So, suppose I am getting in on an interest that has already developed. Or, I am just now starting to pay attention to them. Especially since spent the past year thinking on and off about aroids for the article. Right now I am looking for some nice containers to put the new caladium so I can move them into the garden and on the patios.

Easy to get hooked on caladiums once you start paying attention and get beyond the most common ones. Even HD in Florida occasionally had some spectacular ones. The Caladium Festival was always at the hottest time of the year, but always worth going to just to see the new introductions.

No, photos are not mine this time around. Just the text for the article. I am more into the Arisaema than rest of the Aroids, but obviously do have several in my gardens. If I were a bit further south I would probably play more with them... Brent & Becky Bulbs sent me a very nice selection of Caladium to trial this summer and I could just about get hooked on those for sure. Talk about colorful foliage...!! And blooms, although blooms are welcome mentioned on Caladium.
Working on the next articles now for 09.

July/August The American Gardener arrived yesterday. Nice article, Gene. Good pictures, too [including the cover]; are those yours?
