Supposed to be 108 here by Friday. I need to get a wading pool for my big Labrador...he seems to be feeling the heat more than usual this year. I noticed yesterday that thrips are once again becoming a major pest on my tomato plants. If I were attentive, I would have started spraying before this because they are almost impossible to knock down once they get going. But might as well try it as not. At least I haven't seen whiteflies yet. I picked all the corn, we ate a bunch and I put lots in the freezer and made some corn relish for the pantry. I expect the green beans are done too, I put up 84 jars and about 10 pints in the freezer, plus some dilly beans, and we have been eating quite a lot of them at dinner. Oh it's good to be back preserving even I do gripe about all the time in the hot kitchen...there's just something so satisfying about it.
