a day of owies

i didn't plan it that way, but it turned out to be a day of owies. i transplanted most of my madagascar palms, the thorny little devils [except they're getting to be not so little anymore]. i've got to find someplace to put them in the ground next time around. one of the little dears was nearly 3 feet tall and still in a 6 inch pot. you can imagine what its root system looked like--almost needed a machete to pull it apart.

the short one transplanted some of her favorites--mostly fat plants--also. she got a new one at tropiflora last weekend, a bursera species from oaxaca. really neat. looks like a "ready-built" bonsai.
