Mine spreads by sending runners out in all directions, threatening to overwhelm any plant in its path - and the runners move fast - I literally have to check the area around the mother bush every couple of weeks to assure I get them when they are small. I spent almost 3 days pulling canes from the center of red twig dogwood, daylilies and rattlesnake master, and away from the bald cypress. I still like the rose, but have to figure some way of taming it!
