RE: native/wild bees- and other good bugs
Well, I certainly can get half barrels here- wine barrels are abundant. I
don't however know what types of plants I should be looking for to be
amphibian friendly- any advise?

Theresa,
I have a couple of half whiskey barrels that just sit on the ground. They
both get frogs and tadpoles every year, as do all 3 of my in-ground water
features. No snakes in the whiskey barrels, though.
I think the key is having enough vegetation in and around them.
