Tend to agree with you, Dave. Having a career on the medical side of the house and knowing that (especially general) anesthesia is not risk free, I avoid it for myself and those I love, if possible.

3 or 4 YEARS????? They'd have to put me under too if tartar was left to build up thatnotplacesMy boys get it done every year, no anesthetic, and no extra cost. I mentioned what you'd said to my vet and he said it is common in someto just hand over your cat, but he wouldn't want to trust anyone whowould'tlet you be there while your cat was being treated (not that your vet'strustworthy, just good to be there to see what's being done) He alsofeelsanesthetic's not necessary and is expensive. He said he has clientsthecome to him twice a year from Cleveland - about 5 hrs away - becausethevets there insist on anesthetic. They found it was cheaper to makesincetripthroughand visit friends than to pay the Cleveland vet and put their catsandthe anesthetic.

She's still pretty wobbly from the anesthesia, but she's done untilyearand we only have to do the teeth-cleaning thing every 3 or 4 years.everythingtoo 'cause it ain't cheap. But my angel is worth every penny. And---------------------------------------------------------------------holeshe put in my shoulder taking her in there today. Ouch.
