Thanks- I did not know all of that.  I knew about the leaves touching the
ground.  I've been using that red plastic mulch- but your idea sounds more
thorough.  Thanks!

Theresa, select tomato varieties that have good protection.  I trim off all
the foliage that is near the ground, lay newspaper on top of the soil and
top
with grass clippings.  Virus may be transmitted by splashup from the soil
when
watered.  The paper/clippings block this from happening and holds the
moisture.  Trimming just reduces the risk as the foliage is not so near the
soil.
Also, provide good air circulation.  You may know all this.
