Melica Grass

Anyone grow Melica altissima 'Atropurpurea'?

I alwyas end up trying some grass from seed, forgetting that my cats will chew on them before they really get a chance, but still, I went for this one. I gave some to a friend, but when I went to write a description, I came across heights that varied from 2 to 5 feet. That's an awful big difference.

Any experience?
