Thanks for your replies. I am thinking of replacing two "burning bush" shrubs, tired of constantly pruning them, and planting sambucus 'black beauty' instead. I hoped that they grow a few feet tall after a while and won't die back entirely every winter. Maybe I have to wait and see because it's quite a "new" plant?
