Not an armadillo? They root around, but don't eat the foliage. Raccoons will often sample.

Just discovered what looks like raccoon-type destruction in our romaine planting. Grrr. Had to put a cage around it. Didn't eat any of the plants--just uprooted a few. I stuck them back in the ground, so they may survive. I'll say it again: Grrr.
