Re: ants

Hi Marge, good to have you back. Hope your schedule relents enough so you can have just bunches of fun at your new digs. Oh, by the way, my baby girl gets married in 12 days. Needless to say, the panic factor here and at her mom's is mounting quickly. Take care Marge, and again it's good to hear from you again. Rich in Z-5

They'll also go for any sweet sap - like that's why they crawl over
peony buds - so maybe if lilies are getting ready to bloom, they're
producing some sweeties the ants are after.

Ants farm scale as well as aphids. Otherwise, no ideas.

Hand watering has its good points. Can bring you up close and personal with plants. My viburnum had been scorched so it was stressed but putting out new growth so I make sure it gets water.

today I saw ants all over it. Appeared to be herding aphids.
Directly
across the wooden walkway from it, about 4 ft, was a lily with
ants
all over it. No other lilies are sporting ants, just this one
and no
sign of aphids. Any idea why there are ants on this lily? Looks

healthy as do the other lilies right beside it.
