I really think you need to set up a hermit crab cam- with live streaming video so that we all can watch this adventure. It sounds like too much fun.... Let's hope your housing choices are improved over the last one : )

Okay. He follows me everywhere, gobbles on call - every single time, thinks he owns the place, and sits on the back porch and stares at me while I'm cooking dinner, hoping that I will come out and feed him something good. When we were out shearing our llamas last Saturday, he had to be right in the middle of ALL OF IT. I don't think he would get in the car but he lets me hold him and carry him around. He's HEAVY though. He is black and white - a "Royal Palm" turkey. Beautiful. I'll try to send some pics ya'lls way. james singer <islandjim1@verizon.net> wrote: Jesse--tell me about your baby turkeys. I raised several crops in the mid-80s and really got to be quite fond of them. I had a big, old, very tame male--named Tom [what else]--that I used to take to kindergarten classes at the local schools so the tots could get up close and touch him. He would gobble on command, which delighted the kids, of course, and occasionally terrified the teachers. Tom, who weighed almost 30 pounds, loved to ride in my truck. It was never a problem to get him into the passenger's seat. I just had to open the door and he would half-fly, half-scramble into the seat. The best part was driving down the freeway with Tom as copilot. Talk about double takes! On Jun 20, 2007, at 5:18 PM, Jesse Bell wrote:I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT MY BABY TURKEYS!!!! WOOOOOO. I'm going to go home and play with them tonight! They are so stinking cute I can hardly stand it. I need to go and see if Lady Chatsworth is sitting on eggs yet. She has not been coming up to the barn much. Pam Evans wrote: Yet. LOL On 6/20/07, Jesse Bell wrote:I haven't had a moose or a hedgehog. Jesse dear, is there any critter smaller than an elephant and larger than a fire ant that you haven't had as a pet at some time in your life? You're so funny. On 6/20/07, Jesse Bell wrote:That's right! I forgot about that. I had several shells in my container and it seemed like they played "musical shells" a lot. They would try on shells until they found just the right one. And when it left it's old shell, one of the other ones would go try his shell on for size. Too funny. james singer wrote: Well, if it hasn't moved by morning, I'll go buy it a couple of additional options. Thanks for the advice. You might need a couple more shells Jim. Those little guys can be picky sometimes! A week or so ago we noticed that it seemed a bit large for its shell, so we purchased a larger one at a local souvenir shop. For the first few days, it dragged the new shell all around its tank--into its water bowl, into its food bowl--like it was introducing a new chum to the neighborhood. Well, last night, it parked next to the new shell, opening to opening. We think, maybe, it's going to move into the larger shell today or tonight.
